The original print size is about 18 x 24″ (inked area) and printed on mustard colored thai banana paper. When I designed the print I wanted to name it “little blue house” after a small blue house nestled in between tall houses in Ottensen, Germany which I used as reference for my idea. While I was working on it I could not get the color yellow/ mustard as a background color out of my head. Now, there is absolutely no blue in the print which makes the original name “Little BLUE house” a little silly. I guess now it will be just “The Little House”. This is just the first print of a limited edition.

I finished this painting a little while ago. The goal was to include Gavin – the little boy – into the story of Humpty Dumpty. I thought he could be a friend who is having a good time with Humpty Dumpty on the wall. The king’s men are shown as stick figures. I didn’t want to take the focus away from Gavin and Humpty Dumpty by painting full size soldiers. Mini soldiers on sticks were just the perfect solution.
